"Chinese geomancy, feng shui (pronounced fung SCHWAY), is the art of manipulating the physical environment to establish harmony with the natural environment to achieve happiness, prosperity, and health" (Jandt, pg. 122). Feng Shui is a way of harmonizing and harnessing the positive energy as to keep a healthy balance for a great and prosperous life. I love moving furniture around my room as to gain a more positive and well-balanced sense of energy. When I was in the eighth grade, I remember that I always had a big room and easy to move furniture that every month or so, I would end up rearranging my room because I needed a sense of well-being and balance in my life. It worked with such success that I felt balance, but neutral energy from my mom because she did not like the idea that I kept switching my room around. One day, when I own my own home, I will be able to move my furniture in every room as to gain the sense of positive energy and well-being. There is a three minute video clip that demonstrates ten useful ideas of keeping balance in the home: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5atOfOlZ6XU
At the end of the video, there is a link to the site of the Elizabeth, who demonstrates the ten ways of feng shui. Here is the link: http://www.space-lift.com/SpaceLift/welcome.html.
I find this topic to be interesting because i never really took the time out to think about little things like changing my light bulbs or rearranging my room, cleaning my mirrors etc.to help me feel as though i have a sense of well-being. But then again i am to lazy to rearrange my room that often. Moreover although i dont rearrange my room i do feel irritated if my bed isnt made up or if i have clothes on the floor because there's nothing worse than having a bad day and coming home to a dirty room.
ReplyDeleteI have heard a lot about the ideology. My father is really into Asian culture so I remember when he told me not to put up mirrors in my bedroom, he said that it causes the spouse to be vain, and may cause fidelity. I love the element of water, it is said that water stand for femininity. If i had the resources to decorate my room and or house based on Feng Shui I would, I think it would bring peace to my life. You clip was really helpful, I might just take some pointer from it.
ReplyDeleteIt really does help to move things around to keep proper balance and to follow the techniques as described in the video. It will help out in the long run. =)
